What will happen to IV in next few months if every one gets GC? Will there be a Pappu / waldenpond / whoever? I am seeing today lots of people getting GC. I am happy for them.
Assume one day there are no backlogs and no country quota limit. What will be IVs agenda? I want to be active member of IV even after getting my GC helping the future immigrants. At least I say that now :)

guys! who have those documents/letters being sent can you have a scanned copy of these documents/letters so that others can just download them and attach them with their email instead of cut copy paste and format. May be the administrators can have file/document section some where on the site so that people can grab the documents and send out to whoever they want to

USCIS can process recaptured numbers. If 200k numbers are in one year USCIS will plan for 200k numbers in that year.In 2000 they processed more applications after a immigration reform. One way of preventing wastage is plan to process all the applications in 11 months. If any unused numbers can be processed in that one month.
I would like to have whatever you are smoking when you type these things. Seriously man...give us a break, will ya? Is there a point system by which people get GCs if they play the devil's advocate? I would like to sign up for that.
The Ombudsman's report clearly stated how USCIS wasted all these visa #s due to their ineffieciency, very well knowing that these #s cannot be re-used the following year. Why don't you send your below mentioned valuable advice to USCIS and see if you can make them do the right thing instead of "educating" us("One way of preventing wastage is plan to process all the applications in 11 months")

one of my close friend grew from a regular programmer to the position of VP in the span of last 6 years. he is facing lot of issues with GC.
clearly mirage didn't mean growing to the position of exactly VP. he meant a higher and slightly different position, for example an IT Manager. It is not that uncommon, for a IT Progmr who works in the same company for 5-6 years, offered a Manager position.

BTW, I am yet to see any such cases where someone is offered job offer for vice president whereas he/she is working as Programmer.

Its been over a month and I haven't received my permanent license in mail. They keep giving temporary 20 day license asking me to wait. Anybody in NC who recently renewed license on EAD and still waiting to get the permanent license in hand?

S-corp has huge tax advantage in the sense that you can take a small W-2 salary from the firm (to minimize your payroll witholding taxes for social security and medicare) and take a large "partnership income" reported on a K-1, which is taxed at ordinary income tax rate, and is not subject to payroll withholding taxes for social security and medicare. If you think about it, by not taking the income fully on W-2, you will be saving around 15% in withholding taxes.

Hi,
I been a member of IV for a long time and just to keep myself anonymous for a while I created this account. I am so sorry for opening a thread in a completely irrelevant forum but I have no idea what to do. So, I request all the members to please help me by providing some kind of information.
Here is my story:
I came to US in 2002 and completed masters and been working since then. I got married couple of years ago. Whatever the monetary gifts the girls parents gave as part of the marriage, I put all that in an account on the girls name within 2 days of the marriage. We came to India and from then on the problems started. She and her parents want me to separate from my parents and support their family by sending money to their parents which I couldn't do. How can I leave my parents in their old age when they worked very hard to give a decent life. She has been harassing me mentally for this all the time. Recently her parents have been threatening me saying they will file dowry case in India if I don't send money or cut myself off from my parents. I provided for the girl in all possible ways, even encouraged her to join school to get a masters degree which she stopped soon. We had a baby recently and my parents visited us to help us with the baby. She started harassing them too by saying something or other.
I am very frustrated at this situation and I don't know what to do. I am on H1B and applied for 485 too. At times I feel like applying for divorce but when I think about my little baby I am not able to take that step. The house we currently live in, I bought long before the marriage. It came to a situation where we cannot live together. I cannot ask her to go out of the house because she doesn't have anywhere to go and with the baby even if she leaves, it will be very tough. I said I will leave the house and stay in a apartment for which she threatens to commit suicide. So, I don't know what to do. I am worried about my baby because between all this my baby's life will be spoiled and I don't want that. Can anyone please tell me what I can do in this matter?

Set up for $50 recurring contribution. Never in my life did I felt so charged up as I did in last few days. Thank you IV for inspiring.
I feel there is value to creating atleast "paid members only" section in addition to regular free zone, so that quality of dicussion is elevated.
Then it wont be a non profit organization any more. You can ask for donation but cant force for it.

I worked for a MNC here in first few yrs at US (from 2000) and they suck up your Tax return , used to give a worthless health insurance and 'sweat shop' ( this probably a worse word than 'chop shop') like allowance for 12-14 hrs of work . If you do NOT accept that or ASK QUESTION your flight tickets back to origin to will be arranged. I know these practices changed to some extent over a period of time but by that time I left them and started doing things on my own ... :) and i'm very happy since then.
Another thing , I worked for good but medium sized consulting firms with US after leaving those shops ( sweat/chop/body whatever kind u call them) and they do maintain perfect balance - hardly 30-40% is H1B - they pay market salary to the H1B's ,standard health insurance , always got paid if i worked beyond 8-9 hrs ...

Not true. Whatever they can outsource, its already gone. There are certain position where the clients demand onsite resource. I am not supporting this bill in anyway, I hate infy as much as I hate this bill. Remember these companies did not leave any stone unturned, milked the client every possible way and expoilted the employees to the maximum extent. In one another post - VLDRao was saying these companies does the tax filing on behalf the emoloyee, get the refund and again claim that tax in india using double taxation aoivdance treaty.

Members, who were complaining about the slow processing of I-140's at TSC & NSC, now is the time to stand up and get counted. Please take the time to review the letter and then mail the DHS Form 7001 along with the letter to USCIS Ombudsman's office.

A lot of EB3's got EAD's out of turn. They are the ones who have created the EB3 backlog and also EB2 backlog.
Stop pointing your dirty fingers at handful of EB3->EB2 converts!

Actually it was lost by only 2 votes. Only 95 Senators voted and hence 57 votes would have been enough to carry it through. Really Sad. :(
That only 57 is required is not correct. The vote needs 60 to pass the motion. If no is totaling up only 37 but if yes is 59 still then it would not pass. Also if the senator is absent then it is considered a NO vote.
