Do you have your 485 approved ? If not, you are not supposed to contribute to any political campaigns. You have to be a GC holder or citizen to contribute to political campaigns. Its illegal otherwise.
In 1040, we have a checkbox to contribute $3 towards presidential election contribution. If I check that box while in H1B, is that illegal?

My case was completed at the NVC last year, this was when there were still schedule A visas. Then retro came in Nov. In June 2007, NVC asked to re submit ds230. Why did they ask to resubmit it if we weren't assigned a visa number yet? and now that there are no visas left for CP, our file gets stuck again, and when our PD becomes current, do we have to resubmit for the 3rd time our ds230.... So confusing......

My lawyers have just said I will NOT get an EAD because I don't have a visascreen. EVEN though I have a USA RN license.

I got quite a few positive responses. On other side I got few negative messages, few pessimitics and few red dots on posts after I started this exercise. Sometimes it still bothers me but I guess I need to get out of this critics and appreciations and want to concentrate 100% on agenda: Fight against injustice in AC21 implementation.

I think I am in a similar situation with you.Me and my kids are also separated from my wife for almost a year now. It was really a big mistake on my part not to join her on her Embassy interview thinking visas were plentiful.BIG MISTAKE. I was at that time not well informed about visa availability.Our PD is Nov 05 and I am from the Philippines. I do feel what you feel. It is an emotional roller coaster ride. Are you derivative beneficiaries of your wife's Sched A petition and what country are you from? If you dont mind me asking.

Hello All I just received mine and my wifey's AP's. We weren't able to track our file since did not get a receipt and did not have the file numbers. But to my knowledge my lawyer had sent our app's on Aug 1st. The AP shows approved on Dec 7th and we received it from the lawyer today now when I checked online status with the file number stated on the approval it shows "On December 26, 2007 we mailed the document to the address we have on file". So in practicality out of the 12 months an applicant looses a month in transition time from being approved to physically seeing the approval in hand.

Immigrating legally to the U.S seemed like a gold opportunity when I was offered to work here six years ago with an H1B visa. As a matter of fact, all my friends and family considered that it would have been crazy not to take advantage of the "opportunity" to live and work in the most developed country on Earth.
It's been six long years of challenges and learning experiences, but mostly it's been six years of financial distress, anxiety, paralysis and uncertainty.
We applied for PR four years ago, but in the process my wife and I have eaten all our saving in lawyer fees - and at this point we're just one more number in the long list of EB3 applicants who don't have the remotest idea of when visa numbers will become available so we can have a normal life. I don't even consider traveling to my country cause I don't have the money to pay for APs for me and my wife. My career has been also frozen since I cant take promotions to higher positions that will fall off the job description stated in my PERM.
If I had known about this ordeal, I would have never come to the US. I would have looked for other options, in countries that have a more sincere and generous immigration policies instead. If the US is not interested in allowing people to legally immigrate through visas based on employment, they simply should eliminate these visas and make clear that they don't want us to stay. Wouldn't that be easy for everyone?
I would return to my country if we didn't have a nasty political turmoil and the social decay that comes with it. Yet, I feel that the days go by and our lives are entangled in this absurd situation.
Dont worry - another 50 to 60 years and then it will be dust to dust and ashes to ashes. BTW did you visit Grand Canyon or Death Valley?

helpless situation. Got to stay cool :cool:
I was cool till last month. But, now it has been over 6 months for me and everytime I call them up they just tell me to wait or just end up with a stupid answer. I mean, there is a limit to ones patience. I had to ask my parents to postpone my sister's wedding, which was to be held in November and was thinking that I will get my AP by February. But, so far nothing yet. I can't just ask them to keep on postponing the wedding plan every now and then. It's so fuckin frustrating :mad::mad:

I am talking to my immigration attorney right now to get all paperwork filed concurrently.
My attorney say's EAD's are generally approved within 90 days. Will that be before my I-140 is approve or doesn't that matter?
